Funky Kids Bedding

Hmmm - funky kids bedding - everyone wants the latest and greatest cool thing. But this one is open to interpretation. What comes to my mind is a kind of retro look. Perhaps a throwback to the 70's? Definitely lots of bold colors and an all over pattern - perhaps paisleys. Circa Austin Powers.


A quick look at Amazon.com turned up this nifty (might as well act the part) zebra print bed set. I love the hot pink border and the contrast with the black and white. The coordinating accessories are cute too. But, to me this pattern is not exactly funk. It is not retro enough. Actually some of the best patterns might not be in the children's department at all but in the mainstream bed and bath areas. This is good news because it is a theme that will grow with the kid.

Here is a pattern that could fit the bill. I like the mix of stripes and dots. And the more earthy colors bring a modern look to what could have been too loud of a pattern. It is actually ideal for a teens bedroom as it has a sophisticated feel and charm. Accessorizing this look is also easy nowadays. An old standby is the infamous lava lamp - easily available at stores like Amazon and Target. Even themed furniture would not be difficult - especially during back to school time in August or September - as this is a look that is popular with students. Another option is a trip to IKEA - as they also carry items that could be classified as groovy.

One more example of funky kids bedding that I found is for a pinkish room.This girls bedding set incorporates flowers and the color pink - this theme combines the circles and stripes pattern as well. Adding some vinyl clings to the walls like these wall pops will comlete the look.
