Here was a way to decorate the ultimate little girls room without ever having to commit to one character or another. Now I know that a Disney princess toddler bed set can feature several of these elegant ladies at once - but we all know that each child has her favorite. And this favorite can change in the blink of an eye - which could be a bad thing if the whole room was done around yesterday's fave.
Creating a royal backdrop is easy. However, there are not many comforters and kids bed in a bag sets (that I have seen) that are not adorned with characters. So imagination here is key.
The first thing I would do is tackle the mattress - probably the single biggest piece of kids furniture in the room. Dress it up with a bright quilt or duvet in your daughter's favorite color. Buy some strings of sequins at your local craft store and embellish the bed frame (of course, a child's age has to be taken into consideration because safety always comes first). If you are hand y with a sewing machine, make the outline of a crown on the comforter and sew it on.
A canopy somewhere in the room of sheer netting can add to the feeling of royalty. Again you are the best judge of what is safe for your child and this is my opinion only. A wall border made with swags of this fabric would be very unique. If your budget allows - look for a castle bed frame - I have seen a bed with a palace facade which would make every child feel like a queen.
Some props to set the mood in the room would be a toy palace with little figurines of princes, princesses, white knights, and evil villains. Or lots of dolls and a beautiful tea set displayed on a child sized table. If there is enough room - a life size play hut type structure in this theme would make it really vivid.
