Baby Boy Bedding

Baby boy bedding has come a long way since I had my first child - as I mentioned before.


I shudder to admit that our first crib set featured Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit on a background of pale yellows, pinks, and blues. Now I have nothing against this little bunny but today's infant crib sets have so much more personality and pizzaz! There is something for just about every taste.

The set pictured here is very modern and features lots of geometric shapes in subdued colors. With a coordinating diaper stacker, wall hangings, wallpaper border, and sheets - you can have a redo in a matter of minutes!

Personally, though, I prefer something a bit more childish - to put it bluntly. When babies first become aware of their surroundings they really begin to recognize faces - even the faces on their crib sets! I remember my son happily cooing daily at Peter Rabbit. This baby boy bedding set has a whimiscal set of frogs that would delight many an infant. This would also be a nice tie in to a big sister's bed set that features Princess Tiana bedding - from Disney's new movie The Princess and the Frog.

Camouflage crib bedding is also a very popular pattern. Here is an infant set by SoHo Designs in traditional army green that is fun and inviting. This decor will work well even as the child grows as there are several choices in this pattern for older boys and girls. Again, there are a lot of coordinating accessories that will weave the the camo theme throughout the room.

Sports is another universal theme in baby boy bedding. There is something about boys and sports that has spanned centuries. This particular set by JoJo Designs is done in browns and earth tones which can conjure up a somewhat stately feel to a nursery. Available accessories include matching pennant shaped wall hangings. You can either use these or display the pennants of your favorite teams instead. Using actual sports posters, equipment, and toys to decorate around this pattern will be an easy investment that will likely last for years.

And finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention cars and planes and trucks - yes vehicles are an enduring favorite in boys crib bedding sets. As a mom of three boys I have witnessed this fascination first hand. And there is no shortage of toys that would fit right in with this theme. In fact, as the children grow, there are toddler beds that are even shaped as race cars - a little boy's dream come true!

There is no possible way that I could cover every crib set that is available on the market - but hopefully these examples will get the ball rolling!
