Kids toile bedding is making an entrance into homes everywhere.
Toile fabric is synonymous with a canvas or linen cloth that is imprinted with a simple all over type pattern that appears to be sketched. It is believed that this material was once used as samples for practicing the print.

Today this cloth is showing up in more and more in home decor. The background is traditionally a cream or white color. The new designs have a base in just about any color of the rainbow.

This pink and brown kids toile
bedding set for girls from JoJo Designs has a pink background with a brown imprint. It is subdued yet very classy.
When I think of this type of fabric it brings to mind things from France - the country from which this word originated. Because of this sophisticated connotation - this pattern would work great for teen girls. If your daughter has a formal side then decorating around this theme would be a treat. Picture frames, flower vases, and clocks made of crystal and china can be found on discount at local home stores.

White wicker furniture can also add a bit of a french country feel along with a breath of fresh air. Interestingly - this pattern is making it's way from the rooms of mom and dad and teens to that of baby.
It seems that young parents who enjoy this look other areas of the home want to continue the pattern into the nursery - and voila - toile baby bedding has emerged as a very popular item.

Similar to the pink bed set pictured above - this crib set carries the same look in brown and pink. If sisters share a room - this could be a good fit. Also, when my daughter was in a crib, I already had a twin bed in her room which I had set up as a daybed (it was also very useful for those nighttime feedings!) I dressed the twin bed in linens to match the crib set. Using a coordinating pattern on both added to the overall appeal of the room.
I also found this cheerful toile crib bedding in green and white.

So you can see that this french pattern works well in kids bedrooms. The advantage here is that children are not likely to outgrow the simple sophistication that this theme has to offer. The disadvantage for babies and toddlers is that it is not as stimulating and fun as sets that features children's favorite characters.
